Joy Division – Remains (1977-1980) Bootleg released 2001

A Rare Compilation of Live and Studio Material, Unreleased Material, Import, Promo
Remains is a Joy Division Bootleg, that is a collection of rare material not found on the Heart
And Soul box set. It contains the first Warsaw demo, which is five songs, with Steve Britherdale
on drums not Steven Morris. The Warsaw demo came before ‘An Ideal For Living’ EP. Listening to
the songs, one can see just how much they are influanced by the Sex Pistols at this early stage.
The Warsaw Demo is really rough. Live at the Electric Circus is included, which was released by
Virgin Records and features the one Warsaw song released on it, ‘At A Later Date’. Joy Divisions’
first song ever released on an album, at that point. Also included is the rest of the unreleased
RCA album, three of the songs are on Heart And Soul with this Bootleg releasing the rest. Keep
in mind, the unreleased RCA album can be found on other Bootlegs. Also featured, are the Granada
TV and BBC TV apparances, which are live. There are also two live songs from The Paradiso in
Amsterdam Holland, Jan 11, 1980. Both where recorded well. You will also find the other version
of “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, which was the b-side to the LWTUA single. Its a slower version.
The rest are odds and ends. This Bootleg is a must have for Die-hard Joy Division fans. “We
knocked on the doors of Hell’s darker chamber, pushed to the limit, we dragged ourselves in”.
